Helping teens and young adults break through their barriers

Hi, I’m Shelle Barnes

Too often, those with the intention to help tend to look for the problem, the cause. In almost every case, they all come up with the same responses. They blame parenting and assume lack of discipline; they assume the kids are being manipulative or are outright lying. They assume there must be something that needs to be fixed.

Well, what if it has nothing to do with parenting? What if the kids aren’t broken? What if they’re telling the truth? Assumptions aren’t solutions. Maybe they’re just stuck and aren’t sure what to do next. Everyone, especially teens and young adults, needs to be heard and understood. And as they navigate through this time in their lives, directional shifts need to be recognized and supported.

Resilience Coaching

Life is filled with challenges. Whether it’s change, school or work performance, social life, family relationships or any of countless self-improvement efforts, helping young adults to remain open, flexible, and willing to adapt is the foundation of building personal strength. Resilience coaching supports young adults seeking to maintain control of their own situation, using evidence-based coaching methods, by facilitating their exploration of new ways to look at and confront problems, gauge emotional reactions to given circumstances, and to walk through decision-making and response-action practices to build skills.
